New special page to fight spam[编辑]

Hello, We are replacing most of the functionalities of MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist with a new special page called Special:BlockedExternalDomains. In this special page, admins can simply add a domain and notes on the block (usually reasoning and/or link to a discussion) and the added domain would automatically be blocked to be linked in Wikis anymore (including its subdomains). Content of this list is stored in MediaWiki:BlockedExternalDomains.json. You can see w:fa:Special:BlockedExternalDomains as an example. Check the phabricator ticket for more information.

This would make fighting spam easier and safer without needing to know regex or accidentally breaking wikis while also addressing the need to have some notes next to each domain on why it’s blocked. It would also make the list of blocked domains searchable and would make editing Wikis in general faster by optimizing matching links added against the blocked list in every edit (see phab:T337431#8936498 for some measurements).

If you want to migrate your entries in MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist, there is a python script in phab:P49299 that would produce contents of MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist and MediaWiki:BlockedExternalDomains.json for you automatically migrating off simple regex cases.

Note that this new feature doesn’t support regex (for complex cases) nor URL paths matching. Also it doesn’t support bypass by spam whitelist. For those, please either keep using MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist or switch to an abuse filter if possible. And adding a link to the list might take up to five minutes to be fully in effect (due to server-side caching, this is already the case with the old system) and admins and bots automatically bypass the blocked list.

Deploying the Phonos in-line audio player to your Wiki[编辑]

This wiki will soon be able to use the inline audio player implemented by the Phonos extension. This is part of fulfilling a wishlist proposal of providing audio links that play on click.

With the inline audio player, you can add text-to-speech audio snippets to wiki pages by simply using a tag:

The above tag will show the text next to a speaker icon, and clicking on it will play the audio instantly without taking you to another page. A common example where you can use this feature is in adding pronunciation to words as illustrated on the English Wiktionary below.

This time for apply administrator is dedicate to better participate in anti-vandalism. Since joining the community for 8 years, wikiquote and other wikimedia project has become an important part of my cyberlife. I still remember the first time I edit wiki, is a feeling of freedom, cuz many of the website I used to contribute were censored strictlyand severly by gov. At that moment I felt disgusted by censorship such like that, when I found out that many info of Chinese websites just copied and pasted from Wikipedia and other website blocked by gov, I start to participating and loyal to the free websites such like wikimedia project. Although it seems that some Chinese websites has improved their user experience and tried to hidden their censor operation, maybe it has included more info that non-blocked websites does not have, but the mode of real-time interactivity and language diversity are an ecology that Chinese websites will never be able to achieve. Participating in the wikiquote,etc. for a long time makes me think that I have more responsibilities to maintain this community according to the policy, so I apply for an administrator again and listen to the opinions of the community. Hello. I'm writing on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation Web team. In two weeks, we would like to make the Vector 2022 skin the default on this wiki.

Since I last came to you with this question, many things have changed. The skin is now the default on most Wikipedias, and all logos are done! We have also made some tweaks in the skin itself. Below is the text I've sent to you once, but I'm sending it again, just slightly edited, for those who haven't seen it.

It would become the default for all logged-out users, and also all logged-in users who currently use Vector legacy as a local (but not global) preference. Logged-in users can at any time switch to any other skin. No changes are expected for these skins.

About the skin[编辑]

[Why is a change necessary] When the current default skin was created, it reflected the needs of the readers and editors as these were 14 years ago. Since then, new users have begun using the Internet and Wikimedia projects in different ways. The old Vector does not meet their needs.

[Objective] The objective for the Vector 2022 skin is to make the interface more welcoming and comfortable for readers and useful for advanced users. It introduces a series of changes that aim to improve problems new and existing readers and editors were having with the old skin. It draws inspiration from previous user requests, the Community Wishlist Surveys, and gadgets and scripts. The work helped our code follow the standards and improve all other skins. The PHP code in the other available skins has been reduced by 75%. The project has also focused on making it easier to support gadgets and use APIs.

[Changes in a nutshell] The skin introduces changes that improve readability and usability. The new skin does not remove any functionality currently available on the Vector skin.

  • The limited width and pin-able menus allow to adjust the interface to the screen size, and focus on editing or reading. Logged-in and logged-out users may use a toggle button to keep the full width, though.
  • The sticky header makes it easier to find tools that editors use often. It decreases scrolling to the top of the page by 16%.
  • The new table of contents makes it easier to navigate to different sections. Readers and editors jump to different sections of the page 50% more than with the old table of contents. It also looks a bit different on talk pages.
  • The new search bar is easier to find and makes it easier to find the correct search result from the list. This increased the amount of searches started by 30% on the tested wikis.
  • The skin does not negatively affect pageviews, edit rates, or account creation. There is evidence of increases in pageviews and account creation across partner communities.

[Customize this skin] It's possible to configure and personalize our changes. We support volunteers who create new gadgets and user scripts. Check out the repository for a list of currently available customizations and changes, or add your own.

Cat-a-lot问题[编辑]

@Ericliu1912： 很有可能，w:Special:Diff/68284396之后没更新的Cat-a-lot如果逻辑写在本地的应该都有问题。类似长期未更新的“做出编辑”的工具可能都出问题了，Hotcat直接load commons的应该没问题。粗略看了一下本站的ToolsRedirect也使用edittoken，大概率也有问题 及时雨 留言 2023年12月4日 (一) 08:49 (UTC)回复[回复]

不清楚直接load百科的版本是否会有潜在问题。如果需要把所有脚本都复制过来，想到一个简单方法，界管可以在百科建立一个页面，把所有w:Special:前缀索引/MediaWiki:Gadget-ToolsRedirect都当成模板嵌入一个页面，然后跨维基导入这个页面并勾选"包含所有模板和所有已嵌入页面"，建议在导入前先用w:Special:导出页面检查哪些页面会被导入。也可以使用这个脚本，大概需要注释掉169-181行不然会创建一个编辑历史的页面 --及时雨 留言 2023年12月4日 (一) 22:28 (UTC)回复[回复]
